QUALIFICATION | SEEDING PROCESS
The NHL 20 Esports Tournament Series will consist of eight (8) qualifier tournaments (each a "Qualifier") over a 4-week period, with two (2) qualifier tournaments per week (the "Weekly Play Period") for each of the six (6) Divisions/Brackets (XBox Bantam, Midget and Adult; PlayStation 4 Bantam, Midget and Adult). Tournaments will be double elimination format for Divisions/Brackets larger than 8 players, round robin format for smaller Divisions/Brackets, and consist of head-to-head matches between two players.
Qualifiers: Players who register for a Qualifier will receive an email with instructions on how to join the Discord server associated with the tournament for which they registered. Players can visit discord.gg to create an account if they do not yet have one. Players must have joined the tournament Discord server with the account provided in their registration responses no less than one hour before the start time of the tournament, or else they may be disqualified. Tournament Organizer will seed players into a double elimination bracket, meaning players are eliminated from the tournament once they have lost two games. Seeding will be determined by past results where applicable. Brackets for each division will be separate. Players will connect to each other using the “Online Versus” mode of NHL 20 and play 1 vs. 1 games with each player controlling a current NHL team. Players must self-report the results of each game in the designated score reporting channel of the Discord server in accordance with the published instructions. The Tournament Organizer may require confirmation of the results of a game in the event of a dispute or disagreement, so players are encouraged to capture a screenshot or photo of the final score of their game. Disputes over game results must be raised within ten (10) minutes of the end of a game. Tournament Organizer should be notified of a dispute via private message on Discord or in the tournament Discord server. All Players are required to be logged into Discord for the duration of the Qualifier. If a Player does not remain in Discord and disrupts the operation of the Tournament (e.g. by causing excessive delays) that player may be disqualified. Tournament Organizer holds full discretion with regard to all decisions regarding disputes or disqualification.
Please note: The bracket results may not be accurate or in real-time. Tournament Organizer reserves the right to alter the bracket if there has been unsportsmanlike or other behavior prohibited by these Official Rules. A Player will not advance to the Grand Championship Invitational tournament, even if the bracket should so indicate, unless and until Tournament Organizer has officially announced that the player has qualified.
Grand Championship Invitational: The Grand Championship will feature the winners of each Division/Bracket from each of the previous eight (8) Qualifiers and will follow the same elimination process as outlined above.
